- Job Description
Overall responsibility for the safety and environmental protection in the company; Develop policies, procedures, instructions, and guidelines related to safety and environmental protection, Lead and ensuring company’s compliance with OHSAS 18001 , and other EHS and Safety related regulation, and ensure they are carried out consistently and accurately.
Principal Duties:
1. Plan and establish the organizational OHS management plan
2. Coordinating implementation of the OHS Management plan and monitoring compliance
3. Foster and develop an OHS Culture across the organization
4. Develop and maintain the organization’s OHS systems by:
5. Monitoring and assessing health and safety strategies in accordance with legislative and standards changes
6. Assisting Managers implement new initiatives where required outcomes are not being achieved
7. Developing training programs on health and safety issues including hazard management, accident investigation, manual handling and fire safety in liaison with the Staff Development and Training Coordinator to ensure such activities are incorporated in the Training Master Plan
8. Maintaining a register of accidents and injuries and providing an analysis of these to Health and Safety Committee meetings on a monthly basis, identifying emerging OHS risks in the workplace
9. Maintaining a record of training delivered in the Training Register
10. Coordinate research, development and implementation of policies, procedures and work instructions
11. Conducting workplace OHS assessments where risks are identified
12. Liaise with HR manager to assist in the safe return to work of injured staff
13. Audits:
14. Coordination of OHS audit schedule and reporting of outcomes
15. Maintaining audit documentation and records
16. Provision of audit reports to management
17. Review and update Safety policy and procedure
18. Ensuring workplace inspections compliance
Essential Criteria:
1. University / college graduated, major in electrical, mechanical, chemistry, process or manufacturing engineering is required.
2. At least 5 years’ experience in EHS management,
3. At least 3 years’ experience in a similar position at the level of supervisor
4. Comprehensive knowledge of the Occupational Health, Safety regulations and codes of practice
5. Knowledge of Hazard Management principles
6. Ability to identify safety issues and prepare a comprehensive plan to achieve goals
7. Ability to work with groups of staff to develop health and safety performance improvement strategies
8. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English
9. Ability to investigate accidents and incidents and make recommendation for preventative action
10. Ability to prepare and present training sessions
11. Attention to detail, Pro-active, initiative
12. Problem solving abilities, organizational skills
